Store managers do the dirty work in garden makeover

Wilkinson staff transform Torrington herb garden project set up to help people with dementia

WILKINSON store managers from all over the South West have joined forces to give a North Devon herb garden a much-needed make-over.

More than 30 staff from the High Street homeware store pledged their time to transform the garden at Torrington 1646, an Age UK project set up to provide exercise and therapeutic outdoor activity for people with dementia.

Local people affected by dementia meet at Torrington 1646 every Friday to plant and grow plants, vegetables and herbs, an activity that helps to stimulate the brain and provides welcome respite for their loves.

Wilkinson, which has a branch in Barnstaple’s Green Lanes Shopping Centre, has chosen Age UK as their charity of the year in 2011.
