COLLEAGUES at the new Asda store in Bideford are gearing up for the launch of the 29,000 sq ft store on Monday by preparing a special opening ceremony for the town at 9.30am.Store manager Chris Tilly will welcome a special guest - a local sporting "hero" - to officially open the store along with the Bideford Mayor Cllr Caroline Church and former Mayor Cllr David Ratcliffe. Local rescue charities Devon Air Ambulance and RNLI Appledore will also be joining in on the store's celebrations. Customers who choose to queue early will be treated to Devonshire cream teas and will be entertained by the Bideford Town Band, a fantastic bubble blower, face painter, and DJ Captain Coconut.They will also be able to grab a slice of special Asda birthday cake! Chris is raring to go: "All colleagues are really looking forward to the big day," he said. "Everyone's worked exceptionally hard and I think the people of Bideford will be very pleased indeed with what we've got on offer. We just can't wait to open our doors to our neighbours in the town." The Clovelly Road store, next to Atlantic Village, has brought more than 290 full-time and part-time jobs to the town. It will offer customers Asda's best, from delicious fresh food counters featuring a wealth of local fish and meat suppliers and thousands of fantastic food ranges, to health and beauty as well as the popular George clothing.
