Lynton & Barnstaple Railway is hosting its Spring Steam Gala at Woody Bay Station on Saturday and Sunday (May 11-12).

It will run from 10am to 5pm on both days. Only the disabled will be able to park at the station but there will be a free park-and-ride service from Blackmoor Gate as well as a free bus service from Lynton.

There will be a barbecue, real ales and ciders, marquee attractions, model railways and craft stalls.

This will be one of the last opportunities for a while to see and ride behind the First World War locomotive Axe, which is about to be withdrawn for its 10-year general overhaul, but the replica original Lynton & Barnstaple Railway American engine Lyn will also be in action.

Visitors will be able to travel across Exmoor behind both steam engines in rebuilt original L&B carriages.

The 7¼in-gauge miniature railway will be in operation as well.
