SIR - As a Bidefordian, I was always given the impression that the Sports Ground land was given to the people of Bideford in Trust and now what do we see? The council want to move them to the old cattle market site at Bank End.We do not need advisors (at a cost) to tell us "it's not big enough." One would have to have a walled football ground, grandstand, clubhouse and changing rooms and floodlights to meet FA standards. At least the rugby club have their new facility and every success to them. Not like when plans were handed around offering them and the football club to go to Knapp House, Appledore - a bit like selling the Burrows.Surely, some of our councillors will stand up and be counted when this comes up for debate and so-called consultation.Pam Paddon (Mrs), Bideford.
