Police called to ‘serious assault’ in Forches on Tuesday evening

Four teenagers from North Devon are in police custody after an incident in Barnstaple which saw a man stabbed.

Police were called to Forches shortly after 10pm last night (Tuesday) after a man in his 20s was ‘assaulted with a sharp object’.

The man’s injuries are not believed to be serious.

Police have arrested six people on suspicion of attempted murder, including four teenagers from North Devon.

Two people, aged 23 and 42 from Exeter are also among those arrested.

A police spokesman said: “Police were notified of a serious assault at around 10.10pm last night.

“A man in his 20s was assaulted with a sharp object. His injuries are not believed to be serious.

“Two 15-year-olds from North Devon, a 16-year-old from North Devon, a 19-year-old from North Devon, a 23-year-old from Exeter and a 42-year-old from Exeter have been arrested on suspicion of attempt murder and are currently in custody.”
