Gesar Karate celebrates global success
Amazing performance from North Devon club in Greece
A small martial arts club from Holsworthy is celebrating four golds, eight silvers and nine bronze medals after an incredible showing at the WKU World Kickboxing and Karate Union world championships.
Travelling to the magical island of Rhodes in Greece, the elite team from Gesar Karate in Holsworthy performed brilliantly throughout the competition and to come home from a global event with four world champions, plus a huge haul of minor medals, is an incredible achievement.
The club said: “21 Medals in Total, four Gold, eight Silver and nine Bronze. That means we add four World champions to our tiny little town of Holsworthy. A big thankyou to our sponsors, this amazing town and WKU Traditional England 2024 for supporting and guiding the dojo.
“Now let’s support the small businesses, charities and organisations that supported us: The Den, Shepherd’s Hardware, Odin’s Tattoo Parlour, Penbode Pet Veterinary Surgeons, The Holsworthy Foot Health Clinic Ltd, The Corner Café, Peter Prouse Ltd Building & Construction, The Rydon Inn and the Holsworthy Lodge of Free Masons.”
Congratulations to everyone involved, the coaches, volunteers, parents and youngsters for this wonderful achievement. It is not often one town can boast four world champions and a proud moment for Holsworthy.
