Siobhan [Shiv] Miller, a trainee youth worker with North Devon Salvation Army, was one of the runners to complete a particularly difficult Eden Project Marathon.

The course uses the network of trails and footpaths in the area surrounding the Eden Project, including summiting Helman Tor. Shiv completed her first marathon but won’t be putting her running shoes away just yet as she is now preparing for the TCS London Marathon 2025.

Shiv is running to raise money to support the work of North Devon Salvation Army. As a trainee with the North Devon Salvation Army, she is involved in a number of projects to support and encourage young people – in particular those young people affected by poverty, mental ill-health or by social and emotional challenges.

Each week she gives time to support female students to engage in PE at secondary school, alongside giving time as a mentor and chaplain in both secondary and junior settings; she helps to run Delta - an after-school youth drop in located in Ilfracombe as well as being the Young People’s Representative on the Poverty Truth Commission.

Her fundraising will support these projects and the wider work of North Devon Salvation Army, which focusses on homelessness, housing, supporting families, youth and schools work and supporting mental health.

You can still donate to support Shiv on justgiving.com or by visiting the Salvation Army websites for North Devon (Bideford, Barnstaple and Ilfracombe).
