SHIVERING services at St Brannocks Church in Braunton should be a thing of the past this weekend - much to the relief of the congregation. The church heating system broke down irreparably before Christmas and during the festive period many shivered over their song sheets! The old boiler could not be repaired and was condemned, but now a new one has been installed and once again there should be both physical and spiritual warmth inside the parish church. The new boiler cost some £8,000-9,000 and has been paid for from church funds, but it is hoped parishioners will rally around to help make up the shortfall."And of course the break down had to coincide with about the coldest weather anybody can remember!" said church administrator Marguerite Shapland."Being an old building, once it gets cold, it stays cold - last Sunday we had to have a very shortened service."Anyone who would like to contribute to the new St Brannocks boiler can contact the Parish Office on (01271) 813367.
