The 90 year old has been presented with a special coin, to mark him sharing the same birthday as The Queen.

A man from Braunton has been given a special gift in the year he celebrated his 90th birthday.

Amos Cresswell celebrated his 90th birthday on April 21, the same day that The Queen reached 90 years of age.

To mark the fact he shares the same birthday as Her Majesty, he has been presented with a special £5 coin from The Royal Mint.

Amos said: "I was really grateful to receive this special coin from The Royal Mint in celebration of not just my birthday but that of Her Majesty The Queen.

"I have been lucky enough to meet The Queen on a few occasions, and was privileged enough to sit next to her at a birthday lunch at Buckingham Palace for her 80th birthday - I found her quite delightful and very easy to talk to."

Amos was selected to receive the special coin after The Royal Mint called for anyone who shared The Queen's 90th birthday to get in touch.

Approved by The Queen herself, the coin features a design by artist Christopher Hobbs, with a garland of individually designed roses.

Anne Jessopp, director of commemorative coins for The Royal Mint, said: "The Royal Mint has been making coinage for Britain's monarchs for over 1,000 years, so we are very proud to be celebrating this important occasion together with Amos."

North Devon commemorated the occasion in April by lighting beacons across the region.
