THE first event of a seven-week campaign to market South Molton was a big hit with shoppers on Saturday.

Locals and visitors enjoyed live music and dancing as part of the "Seven Summer Saturdays" event, an initiative organised by the South Molton Business Association (SMBA) to encourage people to shop in the town.

The promotion, now in its third year, has become an established part of the town's annual entertainment calendar.

This Saturday, a 20-piece Brazilian band is just one of four musical acts on the bill. The rousing rhythms of Skin Tight Samba will begin the entertainment from 10am. Other entertainment will be provided by Spilt Milk, the North Devon Folk Orchestra and the South Molton Folk Choir. A samba music workshop will be held from 12noon-2pm.
