South Molton Community College pupils have been given the chance to visit one of the countrys most prestigious universities. A dozen Year 9 and 10 students were taken on an inspiring tour of Oxford Universitys Keble College including the Hogwarts-esque library by a current first year history student. They were able to take part in study workshops and learn more about the university application process. The visit was arranged as part of the schools association with the Scholars Programme. The programme is organised by national charity The Brilliant Club, which works to widen state-educated students access to top universities. According to the charitys own research 96 per cent of privately-educated students go on to study at university; however only 48 per cent state-educated students do the same. Participating South Molton pupils will now complete assignments each week during the next month, culminating in a 2,000 word essay. For more information about The Brilliant Club, click here.
