South Molton police are out touring communities this week

Police will be hosting community drop in events today and tomorrow around South Molton, Exmoor and the Chulmleigh areas – residents are invited to go along with any concerns they have
Communities around the South Molton area and beyond will have the chance to meet their local policing team and raise any concerns they have with a series of events today and tomorrow (Wednesday and Thursday, August 26 and 27).
The South Molton neighbourhood team will be touring in the community engagement van to a wide range of locations across the patch.
Today they are in Witheridge at Willow Rise until 11am and then back at South Molton Central Car Park from 11.30am to 1pm.
Then from 2.30pm to 3.30pm residents can speak to the team at the football club car park in Leigh Road, Chulmleigh and finally from 4pm to 5pm they will be at Chittlehampton Village Hall.
Tomorrow (Thursday, August 27) the officers are at The Square in North Molton from 11am to 12.30pm, then at Blackmoor Gate car park from 1pm to 2pm and finally at Lynton Town Hall from 2.30pm to 4pm.
Sergeant Robert Brown oversees policing teams in and around South Molton. He said: “As the neighbourhood team leader for the area, I will be visiting a number of villages across the sector to meet residents, listen to any concerns they may have and provide updates on local policing activity and priorities.
“The visits will also provide an opportunity for residents to have their bicycles security marked for free, using our BikeRegister safety marking kits; helping to protect property and deter theft.
“As always, I’ll be raising awareness about Community Messaging - our two-way communication platform that enables Devon and Cornwall Police to engage directly and meaningfully with local communities, share important information, and hear about the issues that matter most to people living in the force area.
“If you’re in the area, please come and speak to us. These valuable conversations play a vital part in keeping our communities safe, informed, and connected.”
The officers will be joined by Devon county councillor Richard Hopley in both Witheridge and South Molton. Cllr Hopley will be on hand to discuss issues affecting local communities and work with residents and local councils to help identify solutions and address concerns.
