A long awaited one-stop shop for services with a brand new library has officially opened in South Molton as the Amory Centre.The state-of-the-art facility has been purpose-built around the former Amory House building in East Street with a £1.3 million project to provide not only an enhanced and extended library, but a host of community, council and statutory services under one roof.The project has been a long time in the making, but work began 12 months ago following a joint funding effort between South Molton Town Council - which owns the building - Devon County and North Devon Councils.A total of £700,000 came from the county, while the town council put in £250,000. North Devon contributed almost £280,000 and Devon Renaissance £60,000.The result is fully equipped modern conference and meeting rooms, an ICT computer suite plus various multi purpose rooms serve a range of functions.The North Devon Council customer service team can help access a range of services such as housing, planning, council tax and parking to name a few.Voluntary and community services will be well represented, including the citizen's Advice Bureau, Exeter Drug Project, West Country Energy Action, Plough and Share Credit Union, and the South Molton Volunteer Bureau.The centre can be contacted on (01769) 572501.www.northdevon.gov.uk
