Fewer properties means a the same deal as last year for South Molton residents
South Molton Town Council has frozen its share of the council tax for residents.
An average band D household in the town will pay £94.88 during the course of the next financial year.
The council has actually reduced its precept by £350 because of a slight reduction in its council tax base.
Town clerk Andrew Coates said the number of eligible properties in the town had fallen to 1,612.
He said: “It’s complicated, but because there are fewer eligible properties for council tax, if we kept our precept the same, people would have had to have paid fractionally more.
“We’ve reduced our precept by £350 to £153,029 to account for this and ensure residents pay exactly the same as last year.”
