MORE than 20 firefighters were called to a blaze at the Norbord wood processing factory in Nadder Lane, South Molton, just after midnight this morning (Friday).

One fire appliance from South Molton and two more appliances and the aerial ladder platform from Barnstaple were mobilised to the outbreak.

A silo containing woodchip and a conveyor belt were found to be alight.

Two tons of woodchip was destroyed and the conveyor system was damaged by heat and smoke.

Firefighters were at the scene for more than three hours.

The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.
