Lindsey Denyer, 23, joined hundreds of cadets for graduation ceremony at Sandhurst.

An Army officer cadet from South Molton has graduated at Sandhurst.

23-year-old Lindsey Denyer joined hundreds of cadets for the ceremony at the Royal Military Academy on Friday, where Prince Charles represented the Queen.

Previously, potential women officers at Sandhurst would be in an all-female platoon, but have now been integrated with the men to mirror how the Army works on a day-to-day basis.

Lindsey said: “Being part of an elite group of people that have graduated from Sandhurst as an officer in the British Army makes me extremely proud.

“It’s one of the biggest challenges I have ever undertaken, but also one of the most rewarding.”

With friends and family in the audience, Lindsey and the other 160 graduating officer cadets took part in the sovereign’s parade in front of HRH The Prince of Wales. The parade is a key milestone for every Army officer and has been run at the end of each term for more than 200 years.
