BEATING the Bounds was last walked in the 1960s in South Molton and the tradition is being revived this year, with families invited to participate.
All owners of land on the boundary of South Molton, between Mole Bridge and Limers Lane have agreed to allow Beating the Bounds to go ahead this year on the afternoon of Sunday, June 20.
This is the first of five walks to complete the entire boundary that will take place over five years as part of the South Molton Fayre.
Each walk will be between four and five kilometres in length. The community organisation STRIDE [Strengthening TRails In Devon] has now contacted more than half of the landowners on the entire boundary and to date has only received one refusal.
