A variety of events have been organised using the SOS acronym. At Appledore people will be able to: See Our Station - in the company of the volunteer lifeboat crew; Sample Our Shortbread - made by the members of the Lifeboat Guild; and Singers Of Shanties - music in the boathouse by local musician Ian Hudson and friends. There will also be refreshments and souvenirs available at the station. There is also a collection taking place at the Asda store in Bideford on Friday, January 30.Appledore lifeboat coxswain Martin Cox said: "SOS Day is the RNLI's biggest fundraising day, helping to raise vital funds to train our volunteer crews to save lives at sea and keep the institution running. Without the generous support of the public, our organisation would not exist. It also a great opportunity for the public to come and have a look round the station, meet the crew, have a cup of coffee and support the RNLI at the same time.
