SMOKE detectors gave plenty of warning to sleeping residents at a Horns Cross home after their car caught fire in the early hours of this morning (Tuesday.)

The private householders called the fire service just before 4am after discovering the fire in their attached garage.

Two fire crews from Bideford responded but when they arrived the fire was out and they carried out a full inspection of the area before leaving.
