‘Smash and grab’ burglary in South Molton

Cash stolen during early evening break in at private home in the town.

WITNESSES are being sought after an audacious early evening burglary in South Molton.

French windows in the garden of a terraced house on Hugh Squire Avenue were smashed by a thief or thieves who broke in and made off with a quantity of cash.

Fortunately the occupant was not home at the time, estimated to be between 6.50 and 9.15pm on Thursday, December 6.

Inspector Roger Bartlett said it had been a particularly stormy evening, but still an odd time for the offender or offenders to be smashing windows.

“It is thought they had to hop over other gardens to enter this one, so did anyone see anything in that area on the nigh in question?” he said.

Anyone who has any information is asked to call 101 or Crimestoppers in confidence on 0800 555111 and ask for DC Glyn Clark, quoting CS/12/582.
