Unemployment levels have risen slightly across North Devon, but remained static in Torridge. The latest figures from the Department for Work and Pensions show a rise of 30 JSA claimants across North Devon in February. This makes a total of 640 claimants in North Devon. The figures for Torridge remain exactly the same as January, with a total of 560 claimants. Jo Harris, frontline manager at Barnstaples Job Centre Plus, said figures were likely to remain at this level until the seasonal Easter jobs started. She said: There has been a very small increase in claimants in the North Devon area. There is a lot of ongoing care recruitment at the moment. And we have a lot of new jobs in the Bideford area with the Aldi development too which is very positive.
