‘Sickies’ are costing the council money

North Devon Council lost 1,230 working days through sickness absence in the last quarter of 2010. This equates to an average of 2.8 days for each of the 433 employees.

Half of the days, however, were taken by the 123 employees in the Waste and Recycling Service - an average of 4.9 days each.

The council‘s Executive was being told yesterday (Tuesday) that action was being taken to rectify the situation.
