New and innovative work created by local artists is now on display in Barnstaple as part of a prestigious exhibition.The sixth annual North Devon Open Art Show, organised by the Museum of Barnstaple and North Devon, showcases an amazing selection of work created by local people or inspired by the region.A total of 12 artists were chosen to display their work by a panel of judges from North Devon Theatres Trust, North Devon Arts, Museum of Barnstaple and North Devon and the new North Devon College School of Art. The creations range from paintings to sculptures, textiles to ceramics and there is the chance to buy these works of art at the exhibition. Cllr David Butt, Lead Member for Cultural Services (Youth and Diversity) says: "This is a fantastic opportunity for local artists to display their talent and also promote the beauty of North Devon. The standard of work on display is always amazing and this year is no exception." The exhibition is on show at the Museum of Barnstaple and North Devon and the Gallery Cafe at the Queen's Theatre until March 1. Museum opening hours are 9:30am - 5pm, Monday to Saturday and the Theatre is open Monday to Saturday, 10am - 5pm (later on show evenings). Entry is free.
