Sheepish experience for fire fighters

A sheep has been rescued from a rock face at Morte Point by fire fighters.

A concerned member of the public called them to report the animal had been stuck on the cliff at the beauty spot near Mortehoe for at least a day.

One fire appliance from Woolacombe, one from Ilfracombe with safety at height equipment and the specialist rescue vehicle from Barnstaple attended the incident on bank holiday Monday afternoon.

Fire fighters made their way down on foot and took some time to locate the sheep, but eventually located it and hauled it to safety. The sheep was handed over to the farmer.
