Motorists advised to avoid Long Lane area between Combe Martin and A39 junction.

A 37-year-old man has been airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries following a crash on the A399 near Combe Martin.

The motorcyclist was involved in a collision with a car in Long Lane, around two miles north of the A39 junction at Blackmoor Gate, shortly before midday.

The A399 is expected to be closed for some time to enable police to carry out crash investigation work.

The casualty has been airlifted to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth. Police said next of kin had been informed.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area but police are directing traffic via the B3229.
