Reports have come in of a collision involving a cyclist on the A39 this afternoon (Sunday) near Brendon.

The collision occurred on the A39 near Hall Hill and was called in to the police by the ambulance service at 11.39am.

A 35-year-old cyclist was the only person involved in the collision and was taken to North Devon District Hospital by land ambulance.

He was then transferred to Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital by air ambulance. The exact extent of his injuries are not yet known but they were initially believed not to be life-threatening.

The road is partially blocked and there is slow traffic in the area, but it is moving.

Motorists are advised to avoid if possible.
