THE Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) in Devon has launched the second year of its Business Awards which will culminate in a dinner and awards Ceremony at The Palace Hotel, Torquay, on Friday, June 5, 2009 when the winners will be announced.Delia Colegate, the regional manager for the FSB, said: "Last year's awards were such a huge success and we have decided to run them again for 2009. "We were delighted that the applications last year came from all sizes of businesses from across the county. In these difficult times it is even more important to celebrate our small businesses in Devon and to recognise the enormous contribution they make to our local economies." Many applications came from the North Devon area last year with shortlisted businesses from Barnstaple and Bideford in all categories and Safety Services Direct Ltd from Bideford were the winner in the Award for E-Business.Mark Salmon, the managing director of Bays Brewery, last year's overall county winner, said: "Entering the FSB Business Awards was an excellent experience for us especially as we had only been operating for about 12 months at the time. "Completing the application alone gave us the opportunity to review our progress since we started and then to win both the Best New Business Category and the Overall County Winner was just incredible. "The FSB were superb from the moment they received our application right through to the excellent award evening in Torquay. It goes without saying that we strongly recommend any business to enter the competition."The awards are open to all businesses in Devon. Application forms are available from the Devon Regional Office, telephone (01803) 322499, e-mail devon@fsb.org.uk or can be downloaded from:www.fsb.org.uk/devonPlease state which category you wish to apply for.Closing date for entries is March 29, 2009 and the shortlisted applicants will be announced on April 17, 2009.
