A BARNSTAPLE-based seafood processing company is to cast its net into Europe after signing a £3 million funding deal with Lloyds TSB Commercial Finance.The deal will enable Coombe Fisheries, based at Pottington, to strengthen its foothold in the European and Far East shellfish wholesale markets with a new expansion strategy.Richard Spear, director of Coombe Fisheries, said: "The renowned reputation for the quality of Devon's shellfish, coupled with a rising consumer focus on healthy foods, means our produce is in high demand across Europe."This new funding package gives us the opportunity to invest in developing the company and will ensure our cashflow remains strong during challenging seasonal changes in supply and demand."The firm, founded 30 years ago, is a leading processor and supplier of Devon-caught seafood to large retailers and supermarkets across Europe. It has a £20 million turnover and employs more than 100 people across its four sites in Barnstaple, Exmouth, Plymouth and Hull.
