A NORTH Devon junior school has set up a dedicated website as part of its recruitment drive for a new headteacher.

Great Torrington Junior School is not only using the website to advertise itself, but also to describe the charms of North Devon.

The website contains a specially filmed video giving a virtual tour of the school, accompanied by narration from pupils.

There are also links to local attractions and Devon beauty spots such as Dartmoor and Exmoor and the twin Atlantic and English Channel coasts.

Vice-chairman of governors Marten Gallagher is masterminding the recruitment campaign.

He said: "We decided to set up a dedicated website to support our national advertising. We are a school with many strengths, which we think will attract a good number of ambitious candidates. Hopefully our video tour with children talking about the school will be of particular interest. But this area has so much more to offer and we wanted to remind people who may be thinking of applying what a wonderful lifestyle they can enjoy in this part of Devon as well."
