TWENTY-three staff from North Devon schools have been honoured for gaining additional qualifications to enhance the work they do for children.They were among 109 from across the county to gain the prestigious Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) qualification and more than 20 support staff, including kitchen managers, meal time assistants, cleaners, administrative staff, technicians and teaching assistants, who received Level 2 and 3 Support Work in School qualifications and NVQs.Many of the staff were presented with their certificates by Devon County Council's Director of Learning and Schools Judith Johnson and the head of Devon Education Services Roger Fetherston, at a special ceremony in Exeter. Mrs Johnson praised them for their hard work and dedication in gaining the new qualifications."Many of you will have put in the time to achieve these qualifications while holding down a job and looking after your families," she said."This is a significant achievement and a credit to your hard work as well as to your schools for supporting you and making these awards such a success."HLTA qualifications were gained by: Nicola Geddes of Ashleigh Road Primary School, Barnstaple; Claire Barker of Filleigh Community School; Sharon Sanders of Marwood School; Alison Brownscombe of Landkey Primary; Joanne Cartwright of Lampard Vachel School, Barnstaple; Sarah Gosai, Annette Henry and Nicola Braund of Bideford College; Rosalind Toase and Elaine Bennett of Hartland Primary; Anne Power of Ilfracombe Infants; Sarah Bevan and Verity Hookway of Beaford Primary; Jane Skittrall of Great Torrington Sports College; Annette Lee of Marland School; and Donna Jennings of Clinton Primary, Merton.NVQ Level 2 certificates went to: Carol Grant and Julie Isaac of Yeo Valley Primary.NVQ Level 3 certificates were awarded to: Nicola Colwill of Bideford College; Toni Chubb of St George's Infants, Northam; Rebecca Williams and Debbie Vella of Southmead School, Braunton.SWiS Level 3 Diploma: Joanna Smith, Great Torrington School.
