PUPILS at St Giles-on-the-Heath Primary School went to the polls on the important issue of whether their school should be closed and amalgamated with other village schools in a new building.But this example of junior democracy in action was a mock election, staged with the help of Torridge District Council deputy returning officer Jenny Cawsey to help explain the democratic process.After a heated debate the proposal was voted down.Teacher Joan Adams said, "It was a wonderful experience for the children, I've never seen them so animated."
