A Barnstaple school has won £5000 in recognition of its efforts to achieve sustainability.Yeo Valley Primary is one of just 56 schools to successfully beat off competition from schools across England to win the grant, awarded by the National College for School Leadership (NCSL).To bid for the money, Yeo Valley submitted details of current sustainable projects, how they have been led and how they propose to share their experiences with other schools. Yeo Valley won last year's South West Teaching Award for Sustainability and was an early winner of the Healthy Schools award. Work by the school has so far resulted in using less electricity, more parents involved in parent classes, and pupils bringing in healthier food. With the grant money, the school will form a network to share good practice with other local schools.
