A total of 365 people took part in the festive fun run the first of its kind held at the gardens near Great Torrington. Wind and gave way to sunshine as runners were set on their way by the Mayor of Torrington, Diana Davey but not before they were warmed up by Rob Pudner from Entertainingly Different and Rich James from Fitness First in Exeter. The 2k Santas on the Run course took participants around the magical gardens, with the chance to make a pitstop at Bideford Aldis Treat and Tipple Station, or take a festive photograph at event headline sponsor Brewer Harding & Rowes Elfie Selfie Station. There was music by Torrington Town Silver Band and runners could meet and greet reindeer from Rowfold Reindeer at the finish line, and pick up some festive treats in the Christmas event village in the Garden Room. Jayne Jarrett, events fundraiser at CHSW said: Seeing hundreds of Santas running, walking and jogging through beautiful RHS Garden Rosemoor was truly a sight to behold. Thank you to RHS Rosemoor for allowing us to host our Santas on the Run event at their gardens for the first time, and also to everyone who took part or who volunteered their time to help us create such a fantastic day. The Santa run at Rosemoor was one of three Santas on the Run events taking place as part of Childrens Hospice South Wests Super Santa Sunday. The charity also held similar fundraising runs in Bristol and at the Eden Project in St Austell to support its three hospices in the South West. Jayne added: Please remember that if you are still collecting sponsorship, you can use our online form to pay it in; and dont forget, there is a free prize draw for any adult who raises over £30 and any child who raises over £20 by Friday, January 18. Its thanks to your amazing efforts that we can continue to provide first-class care for our families and children. To pay in sponsorship online, visit www.chsw.org.uk/donate.
