Amazing dexterity has taken Bideford’s Sam West into the finals of Ninja Warrior UK.
ITV viewers on Saturday night saw him successfully traverse an extended nine obstacle course with new challenges for the semi final, which included the Wind Chimes, Spinning Log and an arduous rope climb.
Sam, 18 at the time of filming, almost saw his challenge come to an abrupt end when he reached the spinning log.
He slipped towards the end of the log, ending up hanging upside down just above the water, but used amazing agility and upper body strength to inch his way to safety and complete the challenge. He is only the second contestant ever to save himself from that position.
Presenter Ben Shephard exclaimed ‘that is sensational’ as Sam went on to complete the course in a time of four minutes 35 seconds.
The semi final course was split into two parts, with Sam completing the first part in two minutes and he was one of only three contestants to make it through to the finals, with another semi this Saturday, May 19 at 6.30pm. The first final is on May 26.
