High-swinging Sam West is bidding to be last man standing when he takes on the Ninja Warrior UK grand final this Saturday.
The 19-year-old (18 at the time of filming) is the youngest contestant on the ITV obstacle course show for many years and is now in the last eight.
Viewers saw the modest Air Extreme employee hold his nerve despite a momentary wobble on the spinning logs to complete all the challenges in the final eliminator two weeks ago.
He told the Gazette: “The eliminator seemed to suit me, with the upper body strength challenges and weird ones like the rolling log.
“Things like that I can do reasonably well, but those spinning logs seem to trip me up – it definitely seems to be my Achilles heel.”
His new-found fame has led to him being recognised at work and he added: “I have had letters from people, which is really nice, and messages online – anything from congratulations to propositions!”
See how Sam does on Ninja Warrior UK at 6.30pm on ITV1 this Saturday.
