Bideford’s Sam West has swung, climbed and rolled his way into the grand final of Ninja Warrior UK 2018.
ITV viewers on Saturday evening saw the Air Extreme employee become one of only eight to make it through to the final stage after competing in the final eliminator.
His nemesis the spinning logs almost caught up with him again, as he slipped on the last one and just made it to safety – in the semi final he fell and used amazing dexterity to extract himself from the logs while dangling just inches above the water and an early exit.
Sam, 18 at the time of filming, made short work of the rest of the Eliminator course, which included a dizzying rolling log, tough climbing challenges and the Warped Wall, with an extra 24 centimetres in height added.
The last obstacle was a seven metre high chimney climb, unaided except for his hands and feet.
He finished with a time of one minute nine seconds to spare on the clock and now will appear in the grand final on ITV1 on Saturday, June 9 at 6.30pm.
