NORTH Devon+ has welcomed the Government's report on the potential of England's rural economy. The report sets out a package of practical proposals to realise the potential of businesses and enterprise in the rural economy. It followed a request from the Prime Minister to investigate a way in which the rural economy might be strengthened in the wake of flooding and foot and mouth disease.Martin Wickham, general manager of North Devon+ said: "We echo the report's main points. Businesses need simple and easy to understand access to potential funding and rural areas need greater investment from Government agencies, not less. "North Devon+ is already working on a number of local solutions to issues highlighted in the CRC report." North Devon+ is led by mainly private sector business people and set up to help drive the local economy.
