Grants of up to £500 available for community groups.

A NEW fund has been set up to help install broadband in rural community buildings.

Parishes and community groups can now apply for a grant of up to £500 from North Devon Council to help pay for the costs of installing high-speed internet connections in their village hall or community centre.

The council’s executive member for communities, Councillor Yvette Gubb, said: “We know that rural communities can sometimes feel socially excluded, so this fund should help get them connected.”

For more information and to apply for a grant, call the council on 01271 388216 or 388327, or email vanessa.harrison@northdevon.gov.uk.
