Ruda Holiday Park in Croyde has invested in 21 new safari tents to offer glamping ‘staycations’ in North Devon.

Ruda Holiday Park has had a £400,000 investment to create a Glamping Village.

The holiday park in Croyde, operated by Parkdean Resorts, is capitalising on the 'staycation boom'.

The new 21 safari tends add to the existing lodge and caravan accomodation.

Last year the holiday park welcomed 85,000 holidaymakers to Ruda, and is hoping the numbers will rise further thanks to this investment.

Each safari tent has a small kitchen, tables and chairs, lounge area, separate sleeping areas, electric lighting and plug sockets.

Six of the tents will be Safari Tent Plus, offering a television and DVD player, a slightly larger interior as well as toilet facilities in the tent in addition to the above.

John Waterworth, chief executive of Parkdean Resorts, said: "In recent years the glamping trend has soared and we are pleased to be bringing this offering to Ruda Holiday Park.

"The new accommodation will give holidaymakers the chance to soak up the park's stunning coastal surroundings, wake up to beautiful views, and enjoy the fresh air whilst dining al fresco on the decking - with home comforts in tow."
