THE A3124 near Great Torrington will be closed between Town Mills Bridge and Rosemoor Gardens on Tuesday, August 26 to enable a large beech tree to be removed. The tree has suffered severe fungal attack and needs to be felled, but due to its sheer size a large crane will be needed to remove it. In order to minimise the duration of the road closure and to keep disruption to a minimum, preparatory works to remove the branches will be undertaken from Monday, August 18 to Wednesday, August 20 using two-way traffic lights. The one day road closure on Tuesday, August 26 will be in place from 8am to approximately 4pm.A diversion route will be in place via the A386, Hatherleigh, Jacobstowe, Sampford Courtenay, Winkleigh, Dolton Beacon and vice versa.Although the diversion route is rather lengthy, Devon County Council would urge drivers to follow this to avoid problems on the minor road network.
