Traffic is reportedly heavy on the A39 near Arlington, Barnstaple, after a two-vehicle collision.

Five people have been injured after two cars collided on the A39 near Arlington this afternoon (Wednesday).

Police and ambulance staff were called to the scene at 1.15pm today (Wednesday) after the collision between a Toyota Yaris and a Ford S-Max.

Officers initially received reports of five people with minor injuries and an elderly woman with potentially serious injuries.

The air ambulance was going to be called, but the elderly casualty was taken to North Devon District Hospital by paramedics.

The road reopened at 3.30pm now at Kentisbury and heavy traffic has reportedly eased.
