A nursing home hosted a giant scrabble competition with a local care home in a friendly battle of minds.
TWO TEAMS from Torrington have been battling it out for a triple-word-score in a giant game of scrabble.
Hatchmoor Home hosted the larger-than-life game against ‘rival’ care home Woodland Vale yesterday (Tues).
The two teams enjoyed tea and cake during the friendly match played on a giant board in the activities room.
Hatchmoor currently houses around 40 patients, including a specialist unit for those with dementia.
Mel Ryan, activities coordinator at Hatchmoor, said: “We regularly run in-house tournaments on the scrabble board, but this our first one against another home.
“It is lovely because it makes the residents here happy, you can often see them smiling about the fun they have all day afterwards.”
There was also an opportunity for those observing the game to have a go at making tissue-paper flowers for the Torrington May Queen’s carnival float.
