The service, run by Go North Devon, has seen its county council funding slashed in recent years, and is calling on more businesses to follow suit. And David Hunt, who runs both of Barnstaples McDonalds restaurants, has now pledged to support the charity by sponsoring the Ring and Ride bus. Go North Devons Jan Lewis said: We are dependent on a continuous rolling programme of fundraising activities and are reliant on the generosity of local and national charitable trusts. As grant aid diminishes we are seeking corporate funding from local businesses in our community who will support our campaign. We are absolutely delighted that David Hunt and McDonalds are sponsoring us in this way. I would ask that other local businesses consider us for similar corporate sponsorship. Jeremy Mills, owner of Padfields Furnishers, has also backed the scheme. Go North Devon also offers a shop mobility scooter service and runs an out and about club, with 2,000 registered users accessing their services. Mr Hunt said: Its the opportunity to give something back to the community. I would implore more businesses to support them.
