Riding stables targeted by burglars

Police appeal for information after equestrian equipment stolen in a series of break-ins

POLICE in North Devon are appealing for information following two break-ins at stables in the area.

Nearly �4,000 of equestrian equipment was stolen during an overnight raid at Shelley’s Riding School, near Chivenor on May 15. Six saddles, 15 bridles, 20 horse collars, 15 riding hats, horse brushes, body protectors and boots as well as a Honda generator were all taken.

Meanwhile in Ilfracombe between May 13 and 14, �1,850 of items were taken during a break-in at a shed at West Down. A �500 leather saddle, bridle and riding hat were stolen. A �300 petrol generator and an �800 petrol strimmer were also snatched.

Anyone who has noticed suspicious behaviour in the evenings around outbuildings, or has been offered any such items is asked to contact police on 08452 777444 quoting police refs. CN/11/130 and CI/11/465.
