Malcolm Clarke, from Bideford, is offering to paint commissions in return for a donation to the Over and Above cancer and wellbeing centre appeal.

A retired fire officer has donated five paintings to raise funds for the North Devon Cancer and Wellbeing Appeal.

Malcolm Clarke, from Bideford, took up painting to fill his time in 2011, and is now hoping to use his art to give something back to the hospital.

The paintings are on display in North Devon District Hospital and money from their sales will go towards the Over and Above appeal.

Malcolm, who is a member of Weare Gifford Art Group, said: “I get a lot of pleasure out of painting, and when I heard about the new Cancer and Wellbeing Centre appeal, I felt I could help by donating some of my paintings to the fundraising team to sell.

“I really want to give something back to North Devon District Hospital as they have been supporting my family over the years.”

Over and Above fundraiser Julie Whitton said: “The paintings are on display on the Fracture Clinic Link Corrider on Level 2, and at only £65, would make a wonderful Christmas present for someone special.

“The Appeal has now raised £310,000 towards our £1.5million target and we are looking forward to the day when we have raised enough money to start building it.”

If you have a landscape that you would like painted, Malcolm will take commissions in return for a donation to the new cancer appeal. To find out more contact Malcolm on 07805982248.
