Repairs will be carried out to the pavement and kerbing in Butchers Row today, and on February 9 it will be closed again while the road is resurfaced.

On February 9 the pavement in Holland Walk will also be repaired, but the road will remain open.

Victoria Road will be closed during the daytime for resurfacing on Monday, February 2.

Councillor Stuart Hughes, DCC cabinet member for highway management, said the schemes were part of Devon’s continuining storm recovery programme.

He said: “It is a huge undertaking right across the county which has to be completed by the end of March.

“We are working hard to restore our roads, and these works in Barnstaple are essential. Every effort is being made to minimise disruption as much as possible.”

Town centre traders have been involved in discussions with DCC early in the planning process for the footway works so that access will be maintained to all shops in Butchers Row and Holland Walk.
