Fundraising and celebration evening will be held instead on Saturday, June 7.
THE 24 hour Relay for Life in Braunton will not go ahead this year, but a fundraising event for Cancer Research will be held instead.
On Saturday, June 7 there will be an evening at Isaac Hall to celebrate the history of Relay for Life and the triumph of cancer survivors.
The Relay event was set to take place on June 7 at the athletics track in Braunton, with teams of fundraisers and cancer survivors making their way around the track during a 24 hour period.
“We are encouraging teams who have signed up for the Relay to continue to support our life-saving research by keeping the date in their diary on June 7,” said Clive Pedwell, fundraising manager for North Devon.
“Readings will take place, the candle of hope ceremony will be featured to remember loved ones lost to cancer and there will be music, food and presentations on the night as well as a raffle.
“The evening is to mark a celebration of the Relay For Life history in Braunton, it’s supporters over recent years, the survivors, current and former volunteers, and people who have contributed in many ways.
“I would like to thank all the supporters who have worked hard to bring together this evening event and although the 24-hour Relay will not be taking place, we feel this is a fitting tribute to all the hard work the people in North Devon have achieved.”
