Region ready for fireworks spectacular

A round-up of the week’s bonfire and fireworks displays.

TOWNS and villages around North Devon will be lighting up the skies with a host of organised bonfire and firework displays this week.

In Ilfracombe, the annual display at the rugby club at Brimlands is being held on Friday night from 6.30pm

The event, next to the swimming pool, will also feature a barbecue and disco.

On Saturday night, The Milky Way theme park near Clovelly is hosting a charity fireworks display in aid of the Clovelly Lifeboat Station, Woolsery Young Farmers and Tarka Radio.

Doors will be open from 6.30-9.30pm, with the bonfire being lit at 6.45pm and fireworks from 7pm. Entry is �3 and food, drink and other entertainment will be available.

Torrington Cavaliers are holding a bonfire and fireworks display at the rugby club on Saturday night.

Gates open 6pm and the show starts 7pm. Admission is �3 for adults and �2 children, with a family ticket available for �8. Children under three go free.

Refreshments will be available and the club house open to all. Parking is available at the nearby industrial estate.

On Sunday, the place to be is in Barnstaple, where the local Round Table Club is promising another display to remember at the rugby club in Pottington Road.

Gates open at 6pm and the show will start at 7pm.

On Monday night, The BIG Sheep at Abbotsham is holding a Guy Fawkes party with fireworks and a bonfire.

The evening starts at 6.30pm with fireworks from 8pm.

Tickets can be pre-booked for just �4 each until midnight on Sunday, and tickets after then will cost �5.

Also on Monday, there also be a bonfire and fireworks at the North Molton Methodist Field from 6.30pm. Entry is �1.50 and free to pre-schoolers.

In Woolacombe on Monday, a procession to a fireworks display at the Meadow starts at 6pm from outside the Red Barn.
