THE North Devon group of the Ramblers has launched its spring and summer programme with a special welcome to new members and non-members alike.Joan Long, the group chairman, said "We think that our May to October programme has something for everyone, with walks ranging from short evening strolls at Ilfracombe and Newton Tracey to more strenuous 15-mile walks on Exmoor. " The Ramblers is a registered charity whose prime aim is to encourage walking for everyone. Regular short walks can bring immense physical and mental health benefits as well as new friends. "In late May we are running 'Get Barnstaple Walking Day', especially for newcomers who may currently be less active or have health problems." The Ramblers will have stands at the North Devon Show, the North Devon Festival in June and at the English National Sheepdog Trials at Filleigh in August. To find out more, group publicity officer Julian Tippett can be reached on (01271) 863727, or secretary Jan on (01271) 376714.
