A rally to save Appledore Shipyard from closure will take in Bideford on Saturday, October 27.
Supporters of the shipyard, run by Babcock, are urged to meet at Jubilee Square and the Old Bridge car park at 10.30am that morning, to march along the Quay towards Victoria Park at 11am.
There will then be speeches in support of the yard, which unions fear will close if no work can be found.
Last week GMB Union and Unite the Union launched an online petition in support of the yard.
They say workers have been temporarily redeployed to Devonport Dockyard in Plymouth, with workers enduring a daily four-hour-round trip.
Unions have called the situation ‘more precarious by the day’ and say there are huge question marks over the future of the facility.
The petition has had more than 6,200 signatures so far. Sign it here.
